Will a car registration or proof of car insurance suffice? Reason being I moved back home after school and pay my parent a flat rent with nothing in my name aside from my car. I've been told that credit card bills and the like don't work. Thanks.

Car registration, yes. It's government-issued.
Car insurance card, no.
So you can use your DL and registration together to purchase a handgun if you have the same address on both.
You can also use your DL and signed rental agreement with your parents if you have the same address on both (although some FFL's may not like this option).
I've had this problem since I rent a room, my driver's license lists my parents' address (different from the rental), the landlord includes utilities, and I have no car to my name.Last edited by QQQ; 02-14-2011, 11:09 PM. -
Yes, car registration works. If you didn't have that, I think you can also get a rental agreement form for you/your parents to fill out and have notarized as well.Comment

You can use a DMV H6 proof of residency printout as well.Don't let the name fool you...Comment

if you pay your parents rent, then just write up a rental lease agreement.Originally posted by leelawBecause -ohmigosh- they can add their opinions, too?Originally posted by SoCalSig1911Preppers canceled my order this afternoon because I called them a disgrace... Some FFLs have funny ideas about what they will accept for proof of residency. It's generally impossible to educate them even with copies of the PC. I've never heard of anyone turning down car registration but some of the other proofs specifically mentioned in CA law have been turned down. Bottom line is ask the FFL what they'll accept.Better Way to Search CalGuns - https://www.google.com/cse/home?cx=0...78:pzxbzjzh1zk
