    Looking for travel tips!!!

Going to visit my uncle next month in utah. Want to take my AR, and two hand guns. Is there anything i need to be aware of, or just travel as i would to the range? Can i take the regular mag release and install it when i get there? Thank

Have travelled twice with ar and handgun in the same pelican case. It's actually a real non-event. So long as your guns are in a locked hardsided case and (obviously) aren't loaded, you're good.

Just walk up to baggage check, say "I've got firearms to declare", they'll give you a slip to sign that says they're unloaded, which you place in the case, and they'll either ask you to wait 10 minutes or walk them over to a separate TSA area for a half-assed inspection.

I also bring my unassembled 30 round mags and standard mag release to put on after I land. Honestly, they don't seem to care at all about your configuration going in or out. Just remember to re-gimp your rifle coming back in just in case though.

Oh, and I use two master lock padlocks that use the same key. When you go to get it in baggage claim, it will either come out after everyone elses in the oversize area or will be being guarded by an airline agent. Just point it out and show them your ID, they'll promptly hand it over to you.

What if the gun he's travelling with isn't approved for that particular state??

He's going to Utah, not New Jersey.

There is no gun not approved in utah...

I usually keep a copy of this with me when I travel. The 2011 edition should be out sometime and is probably available on Amazon.

Enjoy your time +10. Utah is pretty awesome, I visit quite a bit. You can open carry, but without a CCW you cant have a round in the chamber, I have never carried though. What part of Utah are you going to?

I haven't seen this at gun stores. I just checked the 2011 edition and it mentions there were 90 changes. Your best bet is Amazon:

Here are a couple of other choices:
