    Unwanted advice at the range

If I'm being unsafe, tell me. Or, if I'm doing something obviously wrong, approach me.

But, if none of those things apply, stay the hell away from me!

I was at the range today testing out my 9mm reloads and trying to work out the kinks in my pistol. Some fellow comes up to me while I'm loading a fresh mag into my gun and proceeds to tell me stuff:

Annoying Guy: Are you shooting reloads?
Me: (Puzzled looked on my face) Yeah. I'm testing out some of my loads.
AG: Your brass is flying over here (points 5ft to the right), there (8ft behind) and some are bouncing off your head. You should check your powder loads. (he picks up my brass) Are you shooting all brass? I noticed your shooting nickel, too.

He then starts to inspect my expended brass and starts to lecture me on reloading techniques. WTH?! I turned around, loaded my gun, and started to fire downrange. I didn't want to engage him in any conversation. I was later told he's some rifle instructor and self righteous know-it-all. I heard his teenage son is the same way. Annoying chuckleheads.

just tell them to get the hell away from you and yell it to scare them. It ususally keeps them back.

So, as I was sayin, they were playing those two songs and I was really drunk,...and i was enjoying them. Yeah, they were cool and all while I was tying one on, but dude...your worship of lady gag gag is kinda unatural...and puts you in the cross hairs, Knowhatimean?

Its not like shes Hawt or anything! Come on dude, its not like she is gonna go out with you either... Ga Ga, ew la la my ***....

You missed your chance to get some help. Here's how you can reply:

"Hey, you know, you're right. Since the brass is flying all over the place, why don't you pick them up while I shoot and put them into this little bag here. I'll reload them when I get home. I only have 400 rounds to shoot off today, but it won't take more than two hours. Are you busy with anything else?"

Just tell him, thanks for the info. Tell him you will look into it, then tell him to have a nice day and carry on with your shooting.

Personally I would of taken the advice he wouldve given. If you brass was shootin all over the, maybe you do need some tips. Unless you were planning on that.

Does the firearm toss brass the same way with factory loads? If so, tell him that. Otherwise, I'd just give him the stink eye and say, "Yeah, that's why I test my reloads to see how they fuction in my firearm. Apparently, I need to adjust my formula but, thanks for pointing out the obvious."

I can't recall ever getting good advice on the public line of a range. At competitions plenty of good advice...
