Ok... im engaged to a wonderful woman. We are getting married soon. Before she met me, she dated someone who talked her into opening a business with him. She agreed to it and then he conned some people out of alot of money, then fled. He is still at large... basically, the DA charged her of 11 counts of grand theft because she was the owner of the business. She pleaded out to avoid jail time per advice from her attorney. I am a shooter and loves guns. Right now i live with her in her home. I do not keep any firearms there but in a remote/secure location. She will have her record expunged after her probation at the end of the year. We are getting married in 2 weeks. now here are my questions

1: Since i live with her and have my weapons at an offsite secure location, will she get in trouble for it?

2: when we get married, will my owning guns be a problem?

3: After she gets off probation and has her record expunged, will i be able to have my weapons in a safe in our house?


ok. any advice or help would be appreciate. Also, please no stupid smartass remarks like "just get rid of the wife" kind of stuff. this is serious.

I think as long as they are your guns and she has no access to them you are ok

But you obviously need to talk to an attorney that knows about gun laws.

Especially about the expunged part.

Just because she has her record expunged doesnt mean her rights are restored...get a lawyer to explain this. Nothing is really expunged from offical records or her wavier. case in point, if she signs a background check agreement, it will show all of this. Only casual investigations will overlook this and only if the investgator is a newbie. Unless she has her rights restored and firearms is not listed as a no-no, she must never have access to them..at all. Her violations do not remove YOUR rights. Get a lawyer
