    Ammo question

Ok this is gonna sound lame but
I recently went looking for some ammo for my wifes gun. trying to find some ammo that kicks less than the 125 grain 38 ammo she currently is shooting.

So i came across this 38 ammo winchester. 145 grain cowboy loads. right next to it there was a Remington 145 grain ammo. both 38 caliber. The only difference i can see is the cowboy load was a all lead bullet while the other 38 ammo was lead encased in copper. Is that the difference? Or is it more than just the bullet itself?
Is there any difference in recoil between the two considering they were both 145 grain? ( they could of been 148 gain I cant remember exactly but it was 140 something and it was the same on both boxes)

So if I want to shoot a round with less recoil out of a snub nose do I want a higher grain or lower grain. I know its sort of a catch 22 if you want a heavy bullet its gonna require more powder thus more recoil.
Would 110 grain be better for a snub nose?

I know I probably asked this before. just trying to understand. I dont mind buying ammo and trying a few different ones but if I can narrow down my choices it would be great.

    Thanks

See if you can find some 148 gr. wadcutters. They usually recoil very little but still have very respectable defensive capabilities.

Cowboy load should have less recoil.

well, it should be the lesser the grain the lesser the recoil, you have less force working against you, a 5.56x45 nato has less recoil then a regular 9mm.

If your looking for something for a snub nose you have to have fast burning power to get the best velocity out of that barrel. What i recommend is Speers Gold Dot short barrel. Get it with the 125 grain not the 135 grain. Recoil issue solved plus a very scary defensive round.
