Steps to take when you have a defective firearm.

Hello everyone, I am in a bit of a pickle right now. I taken my new firearm to the range, only to find out that it is defective right of the box. I will keep out details to prevent finger pointing and an impending flame war for now.

Now lets say that the firearm manufacturer is being a big ***hole and refuses to fix your firearm because of their stupid warranty.

Now what would be the best course to take first? Should I attempt to fix it with out of pocket money? Ask for a refund or exchange? Heckle the firearms manufacturer until they listen?

Do you think it's perfectly acceptable in the gun community to sell a DEFECTIVE firearm advertised as new and expect the customer to deal with it?

I would really like some help on this matter.

Hell no it's not acceptable! Did you buy it straight from the manufacturer?

I would tell them to square away the problem, or you will go Viral on the Internet lamenting the poor Customer Service you received from them.

Tends to work really well.....but only if it's a totally legit issue.

Start at the place you bought it.............and make sure it is really something that is the fault of the manufacturer, and not something else.

It's hard to make a suggestion without knowing the nature of the problem.

We had a guy on here who claimed his gun was defective from the factory because it shot 4" left at 25 yards.

I'm going to say my firearms fails to chamber every single subsequent round after the first shot. It happens with all included magazines. I have tried 2 brands of ammo with same results.

Helps to know what type of ammo, what gun, caliber and are you limp wristing it? My .45 will not feed property with flat point ammo 95% of the time.
With all this "gun control" talk, I've not heard one politician say how they plan on taking guns from criminals, just law abiding Citizens.

Lets say that it's a semi automatic long gun that fires rifle caliber from a 10 round magazine, made from a manufacturer known for infamously for their quality (or lack of).

It's a mechanical device, a number of things could have happened between the mfg and it getting to your hands.

Shipping problems , or one of the sales people could have bumped the rifle hard enough to cause issues with the gas system...a loose bullet button could cause the magazine to sit a bit low causing issues like you are mentioning...etc

It doesnt neccesarily mean the rifle was manufactured faulty

First thing I would do is try to amicably get results ( obviously that is not working for you)
next step is to call your CC and contest the charges if you paid with CC. Then let the vendor deal with the problem with your CC company. Tell them EXACTLY what is wrong dont fib or make s*8t up.
Third step is to take the guy to small claims court for either the repairs or to refund you your money back.
Don't start a smear campaign. We really have no idea what the problem is. Youre, being secretive about the gun. You dont need to say the manufacturer but the type of gun I can't see how that makes a difference. Also if its a 10$ fix you may just wanna fix it and never buy from that manufacturer. if the whole gun is jacked up then go get your money back

i don't understand how they refuse to fix the gun due to their warranty? makes no sense. please explain.

i read this later so .....

And knowingly you bought a gun from a manufacturer that is "infamously KNOWN for their lack of quality"? And now you are complaining about their lack of CS and warranty? Dude i think you sort of shot yourself in the foot on this one. You also said that you tired the mags and it wont feed the rounds. Did you try a mag from someone else? Are you seating the mags completely and fully in the magwell? is the mag loose? Are you holding on to the mag maybe cocking it with pressure so it misfeeds?
Sounds liek you got crappy mags. Try a different mag

I would like to know what would be the best path to take so that nobody in this long line gets hurt too much. I dont like to pin the blame directly on somebody and say that they are at fault.

Maybe I should go back to the retailer and ask what they can do.

I take it that you have purchased a Century Arms Manufactured Piece. If so I to have tried to deal with them, and it's a fun thing when the tune changes the minute you say that dirty word "California". After that word it's sorry your outta luck. And they won't even sell parts for you to fix it yourself. Did I guess right?
