I am thinking of going to BLM land off of little Panoche road by myself.
I have never gone hunting or anywhere but a range to shoot.
I know that you can't attach targets to tree or shrubs. You need to find a back stop to setup your free standing target (up against a hill side). I know no shooting at electronics out there or other junk. I also know pack all my own trash and brass out.
What I don't know is what to expect.
Is there a ranger, fish and game or sheriff out there?
Is it legal to target shoot pistols and rifles out there?
Do I need a hunting license to target shoot out there?
Can I use a holster and LOADED open carry while there engaged in target shooting?
If I experience a LEO encounter, what should I expect (Hi and bye? Or full look over all my guns, running CADL, violation of rights)?
Do I have to hike 150 feet or whatever away from the road to shoot?
Is it pretty obvious of where to go out there to target shoot?
Any other tips or pointers?
Sorry if all the questions seem lame. I just rather go knowing what to expect then to get caught in a precarious situation.
I appreciate all the help.
