    Decisions....

Being on a budget going to school, major bummer...

Do I....add to my collection a solid .22, a Marlin 60 or 925 or something like that for my birthday in 2 months (or maybe even some other rifle), necessary for any collection....or.....do I save up and wait until I'm 21 next year to buy a Glock or Beretta, mags and ammo, etc....Third option is get a tattoo but I'd rather buy a gun

I don't spend my money on anything besides brews, surfboards and guns. Never knew what chicks meant by "retail therapy" until I started buying the last 2 items. Wooooooo

Everyone needs at least one 22RF and the Marlin 60 is a good rifle and cheaper than the ruger 10/22(I have both and a couple others).

Save for a pistol after that. If cash is as tight for you as it was when I was going to school(and even later at times) you will like the 22RF since tha ammo is priced so you still can do quite a bit of shooting without emptying your wallet.

Forget the tatto as it is a bad idea even if you do not get a gun.

Second on the .22 rifle. The Marlin 60 is great because it is reliable and you don't need to worry about magazines. If you have any Mall Ninja yearnings then you might consider a Ruger 10/22 because of all the aftermarket parts available for them, tacticool for not too much cash.

Do not sell your .22 when you begin to build your collection as you will always regret it. They also come in quite handy to introduce new shooters to the sport/hobby.

Get a bolt gun for the .22.

Being on a budget, your ammo money will last much longer, and overall accuracy will be better.

Cheaper to hit it the first time, than to blaze half the box at it

The traitor is the plague."......Cicero

Having just graduated recently and gotten into firearms while in college and on probably a similar budget, I'd suggest the .22 first. You'd be surprised how much more often you can shoot it than a pistol simply because of the price difference in ammo. I shoot my .22s probably four times as often as my pistol because ammo is so much cheaper.

Besides speaking fiscally, .22s are just as fun to shoot as pistols IMHO.

If you need something to temporarily make your gun impulse STFU for a while and are tight on money, might I suggest a Mosin-Nagant from Big 5?

About $130 after all is said and done and since Mosin's are like Cracker Jacks where you never know what kind of prize is inside, even if you have one already, you can never have enough.

I have several .22 bolt guns, and a Marlin Model 60. I think the Model 60 is cheaper than a bolt gun, and definitely cheaper than my .22 pump. As inexpensive as a Mosin-Nagant is at Big 5, the ammunition for the .22 is much cheaper.
