Turner's Policy, I Need an explanation

How come turner's will not start DROS until a gun is paid in full? All other place that I have bought from including Marting Retting and Davidson's gungenie.com allow me to put down 30% and pay the balance upon picking up after the ten day DROS period.

I don't get it what is there for them to lose by doing it the same way everyone else does?

Some places will allow you to place a percentage, while others want the full amount. From my experience, Turners requires you to purchase the gun in full before starting the DROS process.

Say you complete DROS but you don't finish paying for the item... what do they do?

We do half but sometimes it comes back and bites us when someone just doesn't come back for the gun. Now we are in a spot where if they come back and we have sold it we look bad but if we don't well it we arevstuck the money, especially if webordered another one to replace it.

They keep my 30% and the gun. I've had guns shipped from out of state to an FFL and I've been allowed to put down 30% (gungenie.com)

I'm trying to figure out what the downside is. It seems like a stupid policy and makes my future gun purchase locations much clearer, it will not include Turner's.

You obviously have to wait until the 30 day pick up on DROS is over. After thirty days the DROS is no good and it seems fair that you as an FFL would get to keep the down payment and do as you please with the gun.

So you're not going to go to Turners because they have your money for an extra 10 Days?

I always recommend finding an FFL that you will continue to work with for ongoing. This makes it much easier to only put down a percentage when buying a gun. I have used the same FFL for 5+ years and he only requires me to put down 25% of the gun and has no problem with me paying off the rest upon pick up. I treal my FFL, like most treat there butcher or doctor.

Yes. I'm the customer and I want it done my way within reason. I like to pay cash for my guns and sometimes when I go into a store I end up buying a gun on a whim. Normally I don't walk around with $500 to $1000 in cash so I like to be able to go back and pay the balance 10 days later.

I'm just trying to figure out why they have this policy.

^Then hit an ATM and come back and buy it. Don't see the big problem here. Every gun store I've ever been to you have to pay in full.

See above posts. Just like how your complaining you can't get your gun sooner there are people on the other side of the ball complaining they can't get their gun or money. Either way the store gets complainers, they'd just rather have your money rather than your attitude.

Turner's is not a mom and pop one store shop. When you place a deposit on a gun it gets assigned a serial number from the wharehouse inventory. The corporate buyers track what items are selling and reorder accordingly. Now say 6 people flake on their guns after DROS, well thats 6 extra units that are now bogged down in the system.

As far as buying guns on a whim I do the same thing, I also do not carry large wads of cash. I do however carry my ATM/Debit card and dont see why you could not use that?

At turners Corona, xome good people there can start your DROS with 30 percent down or even less. I think it just depends on the particular branch and their people. I can layaway 65 days for an expensive item.

If you've already got someone that does what you want, why bother with Turner's?

Their shop, their rules...you don't like it, go somewhere else. It's kind of the same reason that no one really does FFL transfers through them.

I would never even think of expecting an FFL DROS a firearm that I haven't paid for.
