I have always collected books. I have a fair amount of Gun related books in my collection these days, the majority rare and out of print. I have an NRA rifle encyclopedia "The book of rifles", "Small of arms of the world", collector books on some of the US infantry weapons I own, books on marksmanship, ballistics, becoming a rifleman, and some gun related political stuff, Boston T. Party and the like.
But I am in the process of acquiring a handgun, my first privately owned pistol, and I would like to get some recommendations on books related to defensive or tactical pistol shooting.
Most books in my library are old and out of print I like stuff from the "good old days" and as a C&R collector this comes in handy, also good advice never expires. So what books do you recommend for foundational pistol shooting and/or tactical, defensive and offensive shooting?
I know there are a lot of resources on the internetz, but I want something I can hold in my hand. Also, nothing will take the place of getting professional training. Some of which I have taken in the service, Boarding team school and Maritime LE training, but it's been awhile and I would like to read up and run some drills on my own to keep my hand in.
Any suggestions?
Also the military and police have standard pistol quals, is there anywhere that I can get the specific course of fire (besides my vague memory) to shoot on my own, so I can "requalify"...
