    Can you believe this Chit!!!

I have been on the prowl for a CA legal FDE FN 5.7 for a while. I saw one at Turners in Earth color a year or so ago and held it but didn't have $$$ at that time. Well finally decided to grab one on Lay away at BUD Guns. With plans to get it for my B-day. I had it shipped to my favorite local gun store and went today to do the paper work. I unfortunately had some bad news given to me by one of the guys that helped me at the store. He said since only black is on the DOJ gun safety list I couldn't own a Tan one. I think this has got to be the all time dumbest CA Law yet and I have heard some dumb a** laws! Was This guy at the counter be overly sensitive or is this totally the case in terms of the law??

Totally the case. The "Safe Handgun Roster" really sucks.

This is totally the case in terms of the law.

There is a lawsuit to tear down the Roster of Not-Unsafe Handguns in CA. Pena v Cid. It's based on how ridiculous it is to have a gun on the list as safe and an gun identical except for color not on the list.

It's currently on hold waiting for a decision on Nordyke.

              The list says
              FN 5.7 I.O.M. (Matte Black) / Steel, Polymer Pistol 4.8" 5.7x28mm 3/23/2011
              FN 5.7 U.S.G. (Matte Black) / Steel, Polymer Pistol 4.8" 5.7x28mm 4/12/2011
My question is does "Matte Black" mean the frame or the slide? How am I as a dealer supposed to know which one they are talking about?
www.tenpercentfirearms.com was open from 2005 until 2018. I now own Westside Arms.

so what happens in this case ? The OP will have to seek a refund from Bud's ? If let's say their policy is no return, no exchange, what happens then ?

Can it be modified to single shot? If they're willing to do that then you should be able to get it.

If that is the case, then I believe the OP will have to sell to someone roster exempt (LEO, out of state, etc.). Just hope the FFL doesn't charge storage fees.

                      Or convert to singleshot.

Same thing with the Kimber Warrior II and the Desert Warrior. Same gun, but the tan/green DW is not on the list.

If you have a relative out of state (mother/father/grandfather/grandmother) they can gift it to you and it is exempt from the roster. If you have a LEO friend they can transfer it to their name then PPT it to you legally. Also if someone is doing the single shot conversion that exempts you from the roster.

3 ways to get a gun that not on the list.
If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of payments.
