If it looked real, and he was using it aggressively, I see no problem. It's basically a suicide by cop, which is really cruel to the cops.

If it was a green flashy toy, then... yeaahhhhh that ain tright.

Likely justified, probably suicide by cop or mentally ill based on his previous behavior. The article is just too murky on details to know whether it was a good shoot or not.

"officers started to go into the home just as the man came outside..." This could have gone down many different ways, there's no way to know if he was being threatening or if they were startled to suddenly run into him.

Based on the article, it was justified.

I agree with the above posts. Not much time to decide if it's a replica or not. Goes to show us that a functional AW, or not, the outcome is the same in cases like this. Point a firearm at LE, and you die. Bummer for the LEOs.

Good Shoot. I don't know whose ROE or EoF requires the BG to fire at you before you shoot back.

The article says nothing about the man pointing the gun at the officers, only that he came outside with it.
The article also says nothing about whether a challenge was made by the officers. Sounds like maybe they were a little quick..........
Obviously from witness statements, something was amiss with this guy.

As Ron-Solo is always quick to point out in these situations you can't rely on the news. It will take time to get the facts.

The guy had an AK*, was terrorizing the residents of the house he stepped out of and could have done a lot of damage with it--even if shot multiple times by the cops. There was no time for a verbal warning.

                      See: http://info.publicintelligence.net/F...erShooting.pdf

The dead guy decided to act like a potential active shooter. For cops there is no other option but to neutralize the threat.

*Yes, I know the AK was fake but the cops couldn't reasonably know that.

When the brass comes out with unmitigated BS like that... time to put on the gas masks, or else you'll vomit, choke on it, aspirate it, and die.

Yeah. With many of the airsoft guns these days, you can't tell it's not real without handling it and carefully inspecting it. Anyone who brandishes an airsoft or similar fake gun at cops deserves to be shot, and will get what he deserves.

"terrorizing the residents of the house" are your words, it is not part of the article.
Maybe if they challenged him, he would have laid it down and told them it was not real.
I am not knocking the LEO's, only suggested they were a little quick.
