    FNP-9

    Hi all,

I'm relatively new to guns, but I did purchase my first handgun about a month ago (Glock 19), and it has been doing really good for me. I use that mainly as a home defense. I'm looking at a second handgun now (I think a gun bug has bitten me ), and was considering an FNP-9.

I handled one at the store, and it feels good in my hands. I like that it comes with 3 magazines, but I don't like that the selection of accessories is much less compared to my glock (extended mag release, slide release, 3.5lb trigger, etc). I know it might not be a fair comparison, but even finding extra magazines seems to be more difficult. Accessories aside, can anyone give me any feedback on this gun? From what I've read, seen and heard, this is a pretty solid gun. Looking to hear some other feedback as well. I was also looking at a Sig 2022.. about $100 cheaper than the FNP-9.

    Thanks!

Read the CA handguns section. Theres like... 5 new threads that pop up every day on the Sig SP2022, and one or two that pop up on the FNP-9. If you search, you will definitely find some answers regarding both of those guns.

Ah, I must have been searching the wrong section. Thanks for that.

I own both and the px4. These are the only guns left in my safe. You would do well with any of them.

I own the FNP-40. This gun is put together real good. It is built by Hershal, whom make alot of artillary weapons. Take the slide off this gun and look at the machine work(real nice). The only draw back is this gun is a combat gun(sight is top of front slide and top of rear sights). I point and shoot, so this is not a issue for me, but some people have trouble getting use to it. Good luck on whatever you decide.

Sorry, I'm knew to handguns, could you elaborate there? Why would people have trouble with the sights?

I think he means the proper point of aim for the pistol is top of the sights, instead of putting the center of the dots directly over the target? I'm not completely sure myself what he means, but that's what I'm assuming.

Point of impact will vary based on the ammunition you use as well. Heavier ammo will have a higher POI than lighter ammo. You can choose your point of aim and stick with it, just know that if you aren't willing to adjust your point of aim, you'll likely have to figure out different holds (12 o clock or 6 o clock) for different brands and types of ammo. Kind of like Kentucky windage, but for your Y axis.

First of all: Can't believe I spelled "knew" instead of new. I cringe when people type "sites" instead of sights and other similar types of mistakes haha.

Ahh, okay. If it's the top of the sights, then that would be pretty natural to me as that's what I do with my rifle. Thanks for the bit about ammo, too. I didn't know that. I'll have to play around with my FNP's point of aim when I pick it up.

I own an FNP40 and I used to have a HK P2000 LEM, combat sights refer to placing the front sight right where you want impact of bullet. Rifles use the hold at six oClock method.JMHO

To the OP FNP 9 or 40 would be a good purchase. I personally (IMHO) like the hammer rather than the striker fired Glock etc.... I like know if weapon is cocked or not.

I believe you will be happier with a CZ PO-1 or a CZ Compact .40
