    Shootin out your back door

I was just curious, since i live in the mountains in calif and can walk out my back door and shoot anytime i please. How many here can do the same? I've gotten use to not having to go to any range and love it

My shooting buddy in Texas goes out his front door and "plays" a round of golf first thing in the morning---shoots 18 golf balls with his .22 rifle!! Yeah, I wish I could do that---if I did, you would hear about on the 6 o'clock news---SWAT Team etc.

Technically illegal since you're shooting within 150' of a building. However, I doubt anyone is running around trying to catch home owners who shoot from their porch.

I have a friend who was cited some years ago for shooting in the backyard of his grandparents house out in the middle of no where.

What area is that? I have always dreamed of owning some property out near national forest, and being able to walk out and shoot. I am in ojai so it is possible, i just need a few million bucks, or to live out of range of utilities, cell service, and phone lines ha ha ha (im not opposed to it, i just need more cash to build a self sufficient home)

I lived on a ranch for 2.5 years that i was able to shoot from the front or back door, used to leave my window open and tag critters trying to knock the trash cans over, I used a big a** million candle power light too, trying to avoid shooting the ranch owner, people react weird when cci Stingers start whizzing by them.

So that means you're inviting me out for a day of bbq and trigger pulling, right?

Don't know if you're quoting something in the PC, but FGC allows it.

3004. (a) It is unlawful for any person, other than the owner,
person in possession of the premises, or a person having the express
permission of the owner or person in possession of the premises, to
hunt or to discharge while hunting, any firearm or other deadly
weapon within 150 yards of any occupied dwelling house, residence, or
other building or any barn or other outbuilding used in connection
therewith. The 150-yard area is a "safety zone."

                Citation please.

I thought the only restrictions on shooting within a certain distance of a building were in the F&G code, and that has the caveat "while hunting" attached to it.

If you haven't seen it with your own eyes,
or heard it with your own ears,
don't make it up with your small mind,
or spread it with your big mouth.

If this is the only code, then technically you don't even need the owners permission if you are just shooting, and not hunting.

I think if you have a loaded firearm during a hunting season they can assume you're hunting. Or at least that's how it goes for the lead ammo.

Well a few years ago my bichy ol gesa neighbor called the sheriff because she said she heard a bunch of gunfire and someone lit out of my house. In fact me and a buddy were shooting and he left, which he happens to be the slowest driver on the planet. So the Sheriff came to my house and asked what was going on. I told him i was shooting my AR and a buddy was here and then left. He said, not much i can do about it since its legal to shoot where i live.

To teach the ol bitty neighbor a lesson, every day for 2 weeks when i heard her car come home i lit up my AR for a half an hour so she got my point. She never called the Sheriff again for gunfiire.
Did she called the cops on you for some other reason??

no, but i did on her. I told the Sheriff if her dam dogs don't quit chasing my livestock I would shoot them. He went over and told her that. I did that just to cover my tracks when they went up missing..... he said, its your choice to do so if they are harassing your livestock.

I took the screen off of the kitchen window so I can deal with the rats and ground squirrels that eat the bird seed on the ground....that I put there to attract them.
