AK-WASR10

Hey everyone. I just bought a wasr10 and it's got that ridiculous safety bracket thing for the magazine release. Does anyone know of a good stock I can get so as to get rid of that? Any help would be great. Thanks guys!!!

You shouldn't need a new stock, go get a monsterman grip or solar tactical grip wrap. Then just make sure there's no vertical foregrip or flash supressor installed.

To be completely honest with you, I'm still new to the gun world and parts. So I really don't know much of what your talking about but I'll definitely do some research on those brands :-) thanks allot!

Wait, safety bracket? Are you talking about the magazine lock that forces you to use a tool?

If yes, you have a few options. You can simply pull off the pistol grip and the gun will be rendered a featureless rifle(provided you don't have a flash hider or adjustable stock) and you can remove the magazine lock. I don't recommend that method because I think it's horribly uncomfortable.

A better alternative, in my opinion, is to get something like a Solar Tactical grip wrap which allows you to keep the pistol grip but ditch the magazine lock. The way this works is that it blocks you from actually wrapping your hand around the pistol grip which effectively makes it legal as the grip no longer meets the legal definition of a pistol grip.

Familiarize yourself with the Assault Weapons flowchart at the top of the forum page before you start modding or removing anything.

I was just looking up on those online...doesn't that make the rifle hard to handle let alone shoot?? seems like your stretching your hand completely over the back of the stock just to fire?

No. You're just not wrapping your thumb around the grip. If you already have the rifle, put your hand on the grip, now put your thumb on the same side as the back of your hand, tada.

On all my long guns with magazine locks I go and add these little nipple things to all my mags, so I use my next mag to drop the current one. That way I can be in pistol grip heaven with as little inconvenience as possible.

Though you still have to run only 10 round mags in this configuration.
