    Is Mono County AR friendly?

Hope this is the right forum to ask in....

I was wondering if anyone shoots up in the Bishop, Mammoth Lakes, (Mono County) area and if Mono County is AR friendly?

My FFL stated that the district attorney approved him selling lowers as long as the BB was installed before delivery to the buyer. I assume that pretty much makes it a friendly county for AR's but was hoping to hear from some shooters.

    Thanks!

Shouldn't be a problem. Just make sure to always keep the bullet button installed with a mag in place.

CALIFORNIA is AR-friendly. They have been forced. Follow the flowchart and call the CalGuns Foundation if anyone hassles you about your legally configured AR type rifle.

County has nothing to do with it.

Edit to add: it's not legally necessary to have a bullet button installed before purchase. If you like your FFL fine, buy from him, but if not find one who will sell you one without a BB if you want to install your own, or do a featureless or rim-fire build and have a regular mag release. Also you don't need to keep the mag in at all times. You can drop the mags to reload whenever you need to. Some guys store the rifle with a mag locked in, some don't. It's not legally necessary, but it does make some sense to do it that way.

I keep a copy of the flowchart in all of my gun cases. But I also have known a few rogue cops in my time. Also.... Mammoth Lakes recently appointed a new police chief from down south..... and not sure his likes or dislikes toward black rifles. Some counties just refuse to accept the law as it is written, and want to make their own.

I'm hoping to hear from some shooters who shoot in my area..... and what their experiences have been up this way. Both with the local police as well as the forest service officials up here.

        Thanks for the posts!

Let 'em try. If you are really worried about it buy a video camera and a personal audio recorder, record all interactions with law enforcement, and if they violate your rights get paid.

Yeah..... I hear ya. But it can be quite time consuming and expensive to defend ones self, as I am sure you know. I prefer to know the temperament of the LE prior to engaging. I keep a mag in my magwell during transport, as I just feel more comfortable that way... although not necessary per the law as written.

My FFL allows me to provide my BB(s) and he just installs them prior to lowers leaving the shop. He felt compelled to sell this way after discussions with the DA apparently. I am fine with that.

CalGuns Foundation will do it for free. They (we) have a vested interest in making sure there are no sucsessful prosecutions of properly configured off list rifles. As long as there are no "colorful" issues (eg. you weren't busted with 10 lbs of coke, two dead hookers, and a perfectly legal off list rifle) they WILL defend you. They will pay for the lawyers, they will do the work, they will win. That is why OLLs have become so common, CalGuns.net and the CalGuns Foundation made it happen. They've got your (our) back.
That's one of the many reasons I support them monthly.

Damn... no hookers!!??? Whats up with that!?? lol..... oh wait.... you said "dead".

For free eh?? Hmmmm..... do they do this for ANYONE? Or just a membership?

Do they help in obtaining your firearms back if confiscated? What is their track record looking like? That's a pretty awsome commitment for sure!

Would sure like to hear from anyone who shoots up this way and what their experiences have been while using their AR in Mono County.
