    Shooting Slump.....?

Do any of you get into a shooting slump once in a while. I've taken a few weeks off from shooting my 2 9mm's because of the coast of ammo (college student) and got a 10/22 for xmas so i've been shooting that more.

I seem to be in a shooting slump.......the last 3 range trips have been horrible. My trigger control is gone, i'm anticipating even more (with an ipod and ear protection going) and seem to have horrible recoil control. I hope it ends soon but for the moment i've started to be discouraged from shooting.

Do you ever get like this? Ideas of getting over this hump?

I get it sometimes, but usually after 100 rounds or so it's mostly gone

No not really. I'm work full time, school full time and being a daddy full time. Lucky for me, I look for deals on reloading components and stock up when I can.

I was out with my Ruger MkII the other weekend. I groups were horrible.

I think part of it is my eyes. I recently started using reading glasses. My distance vision is good uncorrected, my reading distance is good with glasses, but at arm's length I can't see my front sight worth a damn.

I've had to use readers for about 10 years now and it sux. It really hurts my pistol shooting. I started working on 7-yard point shooting and it helps to relieve the frustration of not being able to see my sights as well as I used to.

Sounds like somebody needs to shoot some reactive targets! Get you some apples and taters and make them explode! A few strings of rapid fire, and you might feel better.

I know cold medicine drops me 40 points in a match - lol

Most slumps are when I'm tired, but still trying to get some decent practice in. Like a few have mentioned, maybe you should also look into when the last time you had your eyes checked. Supposedly, vision changes after the age of 40 -- enough to make a difference on the line.

Even if you're not 40, it's good to still have a doctor look you over.

The best thing that works for me is to not feel rushed and just try to focus on the short period of time that I really need to do some decent shooting. It should be at least an hour, but no more than two hours.

I am just coming off of a slump (KOW).

I had gotten a new Sig P220 .45 ACP recently. I was having a hard time even hitting paper (at 25 yards). I moved up to 15 yards to get on paper but no grouping. Moved up to 7 yards. Still had a hard time. I was really starting to get discouraged with my new gun. But I wasn’t shooting well with my other guns either. So I was hoping it was just an off day.

I just got back from the range today. I did terrible with my Beretta 9mm (which normally I am really good with). So I was nervous to try my Sig again. I really want to like the gun. Well good news, I was deadly accurate with it today. I couldn’t miss. I don’t know what happened. I was owning everything I shot at. For the first time I was very happy with my new addition. I tightened my grip and adjusted my stance just a little. Looking forward to going again soon.
