Every riffle will jam. The ak most likely will not jam . You should away's take care of your weapon and you depend on it for your life. The AK is a monster . I rater take a ak47 to the end before a AR.

I agree. My AK has had a jam but it is far easier to resolve than an AR jam. Time each jam for each weapon and you will know what I am saying. AR has the accuracy for sure but by just a tad...Long range the AR wins.

Cleaning it? What'd he do, take the top cover off, turn it upside down and shake the dirt out?

Not always. I'd much rather use my AK than my AR when I need to use it as a jack handle or when I want to put a lot of lead downrange without a jam.

I thought dipping/scrubbing it with Diesel is the prefered method, thats how the Iraqi Army does it LOL

Not only that but if you need to use your AK to beat your way out of something. A boat paddle, also I don't baby my AK. It's not a pet that is only fed one kind of ammo and gets a bath after every trip to the park like many AR owners. My AK is a tool that is built for me by me.

A co-worker of mine has an AR, never cleans it and wonders why it keeps jamming. Turns out he never cleaned it. He thought the AR was just like the AK as far as reliability goes.

AK is just less prone to jams because of its mechanics....it's not jam proof. And not all ak's are clones of eachother, so one might jam more than someone's AR, one might never have a jam.

All i know for sure is i like jam on toast

Most civilization is based on cowardice. It's so easy to civilize by teaching cowardice. You water down the standards which would lead to bravery. You restrain the will. You regulate the appetites. You fence in the horizons. You make a law for every movement. You deny the existence of chaos. You teach even the children to breathe slowly. You tame.

Maybe he meant he cleans it every 14 years??
With all this "gun control" talk, I've not heard one politician say how they plan on taking guns from criminals, just law abiding Citizens.

The bottom line is that if my life depended on the reliability of any tool, I would (and do) keep it better maintained than it "needs to be".

im not sure i follow. so worst case scenario, strip the mag and rack the action three times. as long as the cartridge base didn't separate (which i have never actually seen happen,) the malfunction clearing times should be pretty similar, i would think... can you clarify? not trying to flame, genuinely curious.

if you are speaking towards the steel case sticking syndrome for ar's, i have worked up my own solution, which involves dropping the weapon on my rear leg as i drop to a crouch, while pulling on the charging handle. its pretty fast, and doesnt take me out of the game for more than a second or two. but it is a pain in the rear.
