    Mossberg 4X4

    Afternoon rascals.
This firearm has recently caught my attention.
The Mossberg 4X4 bolt action hunting rifle line.

I see that some models have fluted barels and a factory installed muzzle break. One or two models have a skeletonized stock.

My question is, have any of you had the opportunity to use one of these?

I'm looking to eventually own a .338. I'd like to know your thoughts on this as well. I understand the .300 WinMag is a damn good round for long shots so, is it worth the extra trauma and recoil if a .338 is decided?

    Thanks in advance.

My buddy bought one in a 30-06. Easy to find round anywhere. One thing I noticed was the bolt felt really clunky. I'm sure it was due to it being brand new. Its pretty accurate out of the box.

Appreciate the .06 round like you would not believe.
Many, many successful hunts using this round.

Last season, I took a long shot, 510 yards according to the rangefinder, while chasing up a hill after a cow Elk. I hit her, and then had to chase her 3 miles before getting a second shot.

I will never do that again unless I have a more powerful round.

A friend has a Weatherby .300 and I have one shot dropped Elk at further distances, BUT, I don't want to spend $1500 on a Mark 5.

This Mossberg looks like it might be a good rifle...

I bought the 30-06 model and had some problems with it right out of the box. I was getting a lot of miss fires, i contacted mossberg and they said all i had to do was send it to them and they would take a look at it but I have been to lazy to send it back yet.
