I've had the same thing happen

Guy freaked out when he found out I was from California, didn't believe me when I told him he wasn't doing anything wrong by shipping the BOLT ACTION RIFLE to my FFL. He had gotten a bunch of FUD at a local gun store.

So I posted negative feedback and bought another gun. After this, the orginal seller calls me to say that he checked with another gun store who told him that everything I told him was true and did I still want the gun! Unbelievable!

All of this got really bad when California began requiring a license check before shipping. Actually, in an age when anybody with a PC and a little knowledge can forge documents, I'm surprised the Feds don't require it.

If this is a private seller, he well deserves a big fat NEG. There's absolutely no reason whatsoever for a private party not to ship a legal firearm to CA. If the seller is an FFL, I would cut him some slack.
Beyond that there's nothing you could do.

Maybe I've just been lucky, but about half the time I ask a seller who says "no CA sales," he's willing to let me bid if I can show him it's legal (link to the roster, or link to the DoJ page saying C&R sales are exempt from the roster). Often, I think it seems like a good idea to them at the time, but then when there's an actual sale of a few hundred bucks staring them in the face, they're willing to bend.

If they throw a hissy fit about a perfectly legal sale and refuse to go through with it, give them bad feedback and report them to GB, and then look for another dealer who won't be a jerk about it. Good to ask first, though... if it's a gun store owner/FFL, he's got no excuse. But he might just be some private schmoe who's got to go through his local FFL, and THAT guy is the one being a jerk about dealing with CA. That's not the seller's fault.

report it and forget it. there will probably be no resolution but it may give the seller a black mark.
most of the ca dealers not shipping to ca are selling off roster handguns. they can't wait forever for a cop to buy ftf.

My guess would be it didn't sell high enough so the seller is using the "No CA" as a way to get out of the deal - Block the seller and move on...

Is there extra paperwork to send a pistol that's on roster to CA compared to other states? I've seen some listings say "California $10 extra for all the paperwork" or something like that.

He had been given some misinformation from somewhere that California had some extra requirements above and beyond what every other state requires when it comes to buying from California. It was probably confusion over the California Firearms Licensee Check System.
                        Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

Damn, what a Royal PITA seller. GB is infested with them. Hope everything works out for you.

That bites! Hopefully the seller will come to his senses and ship the firearm.

The seller has stated he will not drive anywhere apart from his local FFL, and believes the item is illegal (which it is not). I know someone here said gunbroker will do nothing... and you are correct. Gunbroker has stated "these things happen and they have no power" The item has been re-listed.
