My Wal-Mart has Federal 9mm for $10.48 per box of 50 and they don't limit to 6 boxes anymore.

Those aren't good prices on ammo. I pay 33.00 for wwb in .45 at Walmart.

No wonder they can never keep them in stock! I read another thread about some scalpers who buy out an entire stock every week and resell it at a range and ebay.

          dieselpower,

With tax it'll cost you about $14 bucks per box. Based on todays high prices it's just a little lower than perhaps Turner's so yeah it's not bad. I'd check with Ammo Bros to see if they have a chepr price per CASE instead and go for that if you have the pocket money.

Big5 is only paid I a pinch or if the wife needs the one specific brand of HV22L's. But they have great prices on knives...

When buying large quanities and spending more than pocket change yes. For most of the shooters on this website spending $300 for ammo requires planning and doesnt happen because "LIFE" happens and the money saved gets spent.

A better course of action is to buy small boxes here and there and save the ammo, rather then the cash. Spending $30-$60 (tax included) a week is easy. If you can get away with saving $30-60 a week for four to five weeks and not have to spend that cash on bills...by all means do that and buy a large quanity of ammo.

Just because I can buy a "Espresso-maker" for what I spend on StarBucks every month, doesnt mean I should....or that at the end of the month I will still have that money.

When you have two kids in College, in two different States...emergencies come up...a lot. I buy ammo when I can.

If you're looking to save money in smaller box quantities then I would buy Federal at Walmart. About $10box for 9mm.

                  agreed $10.48 for 50 = .21 per round
                  and
                  $26 for 100 - .26 per round.

everyone buys at wally world, few buy at Big-5. Its still smart for guys to buy in small quantities any place they can.

For some reason, the Wally worlds I go to have crap ammo prices for all calibers ($.40 for .45 ACP FMJ, $.50+ for .40 JHP, $.35+ for .223 FMJ), except .22 LR and 12 Ga. birdshot.

$10 a box of 50 Federal 9mm at Walmart (Murrieta). Or.... just drive to Vegas or Yuma twice a year and stock up.
