Handgun Vault Shopping

Anyone have any suggestions on some? First one I heard about was from the company GunVault and was interested in the "nanovault 300"(attractive price):

then the mini vault:

I think the mini had some problems earlier where the door would pop open if you hit it or something. I want to use this to keep in my bedroom either under my bed, next to it or on my nightstand so I'm looking for a fast deployer. The GunVault hand placement thing looks good to me but I also like combination locks (if I can repair my flashlight ) or button combinations with back up keys if need be. I'm not very attracted to gun vaults that take a ton of batteries like the mini do. If I could, would love to keep it under $150. Any help?

Thing that worries me is that I want to fit all 3 magazines (one in gun, 2 laying next to the gun) and just going by that stock picture..doesn't look like I can?

Like the hand thing(non-biometric) and maybe I could fit two extra mags side by side or it looks deep enough that I can stack the 2.



I'm still open to the minivault model.

Any thoughts? Other similar recommendations? Thanks.

The Nano 300 is a decent model but there have been some so so reviews due to the combination. The Nano 200 is an alternative and requires a key. I think it also might be bigger. The price range is $20 to $30. Check Amazon for any specials. At the most one extra magazine will be all you could fit.

I have a Gunvault Bio model (Fingerprint scanner) and I'm pretty happy with it. It came with an AC adapter so that does ease concerns about battery life. I get pretty good life out of my batteries so far. Reading the manual and understanding how the thing works is very important to keeping things secure. Don't ever look at these as highly secure as I could get into one pretty quickly now that I know how it's constructed but it keeps the kids out and I keep it where it's not too obvious.

I have the microvault biometric and I love it! I have my wife's fingerprint logged as well as mine. It's always worked flawlessly and it's very fast to open so I keep my handgun in the vault on the nightstand.

Gives me big piece of mind with my kids running around. Mind you my kids are preteens and know better than to fool with my stuff, but I don't want to tempt an accident.

I'm pretty sure I could get into the thing with a crowabar and five minutes, but that's not the point. The point is a degree of safety while having your handgun available instantly. If I had no kids I probably wouldn't have the vault, but it's a good compromise.

Check out V-line wall "safe" and deskmake

I like V-line's non-electronic Simplex locks and heavier construction. Only disadvantage is there are only ~1000 combination settings possible with 5 no-repeat push buttons. So, if you have kids with a lot of free time you may want a tougher combination lock.

Whoops, forgot about my thread! I don't have any kids but sometimes some come here. My thing is that I want to keep it away from either an intruder in the house that got into my room and would use it against me anddd when I'm away from the house, I'd like a case like these to hide and it being locked, not easily accessible to a thief. Do these microvaults come with an ac adapter or could I buy one separately for it? Or is that the bigger, Bio models?

My microvault had no AC adapter but I can't imagine it's heavy on battery usage. How many times are you going to open it? I opened it a couple times a day and then the novelty wore off. It has a battery low warning and you can open it with a key if the battery dies.

I plan on playing around with it a lot once I get it, practice deploying it fast & in the dark. After that, maybe once or twice a day.

I own the Micro vault and the Mini vault. I can keep my G19 and G26 in the micro along with a couple spare mags but the mini is pretty much a one gun set up. Haven't had a single problem with either of them. I do prefer the way the mini door pops wide open as opposed to the micro just unlocks and you have to open it.
But the micro makes a good car set up too. It's very protable, lockable, and quick access if you need to get to it. Good luck with your purchase.
