    AR-15 Pistol ?

I'm looking into AR pistols, and have a question, who sells AR pistol uppers that have a 12" barrel?

I want a BCM upper, but only see their 12" barrels for SBR's.

How do I get a 11-12" barreled upper, for a pistol.

I've never owned a pistol version AR, but a 11 or 12" barrel makes sense to me due to the pistol having less blast, and noise.

Never went this route before, so excuse the above.

Any 10.5 inch upper will work (there are many vendors here that sell them) as long as you have a pistol registered lower and do not add on any NO,NO's like a stock or forward grip. SBR are rifles with pistol length barrels (more or less) Just make sure a stock cannot be attached to your "pistol" lower, and i personally keep all my AR pistol components in a different location than my AR rifle components.

Are they 10.5 uppers marked 'for pistols only'.

Let's say I wanted to get this LMT 10.5" upper

Bravo Company USA, Inc is your source for the highest quality parts, & tactical accessories for your AR-15, M16, M4 Carbine

How do I go about buying one and does the NFA apply if it's for a AR pistol. I understand you on NOT adding a stock, foward grip, or extension tube.

Once again excuse my ignorance on the matter.

The upper does not designate the firearm. It is the lowers that are marked pistol only. NFA applies when constructing a rifle with a short barrel{SBR}. as long as you do not use a long arm (rifle) registered lower and follow legal AR pistol configuration there are no NFA rules to apply. However should you put that short upper on a rifle lower and not have the appropriate NFA tax stamp you just committed a felony. So to answer your question ANY 10.5 upper would be legal for a pistol upper as long as it has a Perm attached muzzle devise (cant have a threaded barrel on a pistol) and you do not affix a foreward grip.

I'd say just to buy a complete AR pistol from one of the good realtors on here: it will be a lot simpler.

The only other way to work it would be to make your own 80% lower. But whatever you do, do NOT buy the upper before you have that lower completed (preferably drilled and with the pistol buffer tube) to avoid any constructive possession problems.

really?> I've never seen a Glock or S&W pistol say "pistol only" on the receiver. There is no legal requirement that any pistol say that on the receiver.

wrong again. YOu can have a threaded barrel on any firearm in CA, with the exception of semi-automatic pistols that have detachable magazines. Since the AR-pistol in question would have a fixed-mag, it can have a threaded barrel. And you can attach a VFG on it as well without violating CA law. Just get your AOW tax stamp first and you are all set.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?
