Edward Fleury Found Not Guilty In Uzi Child Death!

Breaking news, Former Sheriff found NOT GUILTY!

Sad ending to a fun day shooting, but still, at least common sense still prevailed!
Former police chief Edward Fleury has been acquitted of manslaughter charges for running a gun expo where 8-year-old Christopher Bizilj accidentally killed himself while firing an Uzi submachine gun.

Glad he was cleared. Very sad for the child though. From the article, it seemed that the child's father was very insistent that the boy get to shoot. Maybe it's me but that seems very negligent.

Horrible situation -- the tragedy should have never happened.

Fleury deserved to be found not guilty and I'm glad he was.
People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

I disagree. Both Fleury and the father should have been convicted of involuntary man slaughter. Anyone that insist they give their 8 year old son a full auto weapon is just plain negligent. Anyone that agrees to give an 8 year old a full auto is negligent.

Sure it's a tragedy for an 8 year old to loose his life. It's a tragedy to loose a child. But what's even more tragic is that it could have been prevented.

How many of you would be screaming for blood if it had been some Joe Blow that had left a loaded gun within reach of his eight year old neighbor's child?

I'd be screaming mad if my neighbor left a loaded gun right next to my kids play area, but that is nowhere near what happened in this instance.

I'm glad Fleury was found not guilty; I hope he is found not guilty in any civil trials as well.

I am inclined to agree with you. Eight is just too young. I know having lost a son will be hard enough, but lady justice must be blind - and this was clearly negligent.

Why punish a punished man? It was retarded what he did but does he need jail time? More taxpayer dollars so he will learn not to let his deceased child fire/handle automatic weapons.

That was a closed-bolt Micro Uzi, which fires at about 2000rpm. I'm not sure what made him think it was a good idea to let an 8 year old shoot it, but I also don't think throwing him in jail would do any good.

Because his actions resulted in the death of an innocent child and ruined the life of not only his entire family but another person's life as well. If i leave my loaded handgun laying around and one of my grand kids finds it and shoots and kills their self or someone else then my stupid butt deserves to go to jail.

I have a nephew doing two life terms for a murder for hire that he committed in 1982 just one week after his eighteenth birthday. My wife and i baby sat him when he was younger. I had fights with several family members over weather he should get life or the death sentence. He ambushed and killed two innocent people. What do you think my opinion was? A couple of years ago my mom said she thinks he's paid for his crime and should be paroled. He's where he needs to be.

Forgive me but I thought that was his child who was killed? No? If not then I retract my post on this topic.

I wouldn't let my 9 yr old shoot anything other than our single shot .22

The father demanded that his 9 year old son be capable of using the gun, the responsibility ends with the father.
