While I do think the Appleseed program is a great asset and provides some really solid training points, its not the end all be all for training our current soldiers. Granted I have seen some individuals in uniform who were atrocious shots, about on par with your typical newb with no idea what they are doing, who, if actually payed attention, would benefit from the program.

However, I think the techniques tought for the prone and sitting for further distances are of use. For close in stuff, coupled with the body armor that we wear nowadays, I think the techniques tought by Magpul and the like are of more benefit.

Add it all together to make oneself more rounded and a more complete rifleman.

Just checked out the Dynamic Carbine 1 course, looks interesting, I wonder if Front Sight has something similar

interesting. I guess it's a step in the right direction, more training is always good.

How does the program run? Obviously it's not one on one since there are so many folks there. Is it an all day program or 2 days?

          Thanks.

Anytime good people come together and shoot to improve, its a good thing.

What's the context behind that statement? I'm not an Appleseed member but do know a few graduates and they both shot OLLs.

Appleseed asks that you bring legal rifles to the event. I volunteer instruct with Appleseed and have seen MANY OLL's at events. No problems, no hassles.

This is a two day event (two full days). If you can only do one day make it Saturday when all the course material is taught. Sunday moves much faster and presumes that you have already been exposed to all of the Appleseed teaching materials.

Would it help if I read up on the materials before hand? If so, where can I buy a copy? Thanks.

WokMaster, there is nothing to buy other than your course registration. Regarding ahead of time: Just look into the discussion about what to bring and how to prepare.

For most people the best thing they can do (other than ensuring that their rifle functions reliably and that they bring eyes/ears/shooting mat/ammo/sight tools/staple gun/lunch/snacks/hydration) is to work on their personal flexibility and do a bit of exercise. You will go from standing to prone dozens of times before lunch, and standing to cross legged/sitting another dozen times before dinner on saturday. This takes some flexibility and some core strength that most of use office dwellers do not use very often.
