Longguns are not registered, so there shouldn't be an AFS record for it unless it was reported stolen. BATFE retains 4473s from closed FFLs. If you have the purchase information (approximate date, store info) then your dad might be able to get a copy of the 4473.

The ATF contact information is on their website, here:
        ATF Contact info
If the gun was taken from you there should be a record of that, police report, something. If no charges were filed get all the info from the agency that took it and go get it.

he sent this form in, http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/forms/pdf/legr.pdf , and CADOJ said they had no record of his 10/22? Why would they have a record for it? It is a long gun.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

The lady in the property room told me when i picked up my sig that the letter from the doj for the 10/22 had to show proof of ownership, i didn't think that it was a long gun, now im kinda stumped!

call the property room people and tell them that you have the LEGR, but that CADOJ does not document long gun ownership, so why are they wanting you to get something from CADOJ that isn't possible.
