i usually say hi to the ro first, and chill for a bit. then i set up my target at 100 yards, and shoot 10 rounds and check out the groupings. then i go shoot steel at 150-250yards. then i redo my 100yard paper target, and shoot another 10 rounds or so at the 100yard paper target. then i go hit the buffalo steel at 400yards. i might switch to rifles, shoot at steel with my close range oll (eotech), and then switch again, shoot a bit more, and go home. and i like to bug the ro, here and there and ask them rifle questions and reloading questions.

Outdoors for me. Break out all 6 mags for my 1911. Load them up with Fiocchi FMJ. Pace off 50 yards to the earthen backstop. Set out all of the 20oz soda bottles(refilled with water) and the cheapo brand-x 12oz cans of soda. It usually takes me one magazine to get my point of aim back and then I blast everything I brought with me. I usually shoot 2-300 rounds of .45. By the end I can chase the bottles and cans around consistently, round after round.

Usually I go to the range with one pistol and a few rifles. After shooting 100 or 150 rounds, I move over to the rifle side. I take as much ammo as I can cram into the 50 cal. box as I can. You see most of the ammo comes back with me in un-fired fashion because, I only shoot surplus rifles at the range and after shooting a few boxes of ammo, my shoulder goes numb and I head back for home. I truly believe some of my tooth fillings have fallen out by the sheer number 7.62X54r and 8MM ammo I have fired:

Awww, the good ol days where you could get a crate of 70's Yugo for $60.

Im fortunate to have rural property in the Sierras to shoot and teach classes. When I do go to shoot I bring every pistol and rifle I have and spend between 5-8 hours at it with lunch breaks. Targets are staggered at various distances, gotta love bowling pins! I do more tactical stuff now that I carry.1911whore has enjoyed my 'manhaven'. It's a great day, afterwards my evening is spent cleaning toys and reloading the safes.

            1. Pick out some guns to shoot, pack em' up
            1. Go to range
            2. Do some shootin'
            3. Get hungry
            4. Go get food
            5. Go home

Haha seriously thats about it. I find if I try to set up specific things to do it becomes too much like work and I won't do them anyway. Its not that I lack discipline (insert Arnold soundclip here "YOU LACK DISCIPLINE!" ), its that I go there to have a good time and planning out details is not a good time for me. About the closest I get is an only rifles or only pistols trip.
