.50BMG RIFLES are banned statewide in CA, unless you owned it before the ban and specially registered it. .50BMG non-rifles (like the Ma Duece) are not banned in CA.Jack

It's cheaper than 300 Weatherby.Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

There is a difference between a .50 BMG and a .50 Beowulf. With all this "gun control" talk, I've not heard one politician say how they plan on taking guns from criminals, just law abiding Citizens.

they were either selling you a .50BMG non-rifle like the ma duece, or, if it was a rifel, then maybe it was chambered in .510DTC instead.Jack

I can only assume that you misunderstood something. I can't see Ammo Bros in Ontario (not San Bernardino) selling a .50BMG-chambered rifle in CA. They know the rules. I can only assume that it wasn't chambered in .50BMG, or that it wasn't a rifle. Or, an alternate scenario is that they do have .50BMG rifle, but it is for LEO sales only (wasn't aware that they might be an AW dealer).Jack

They do have a 416 bolt action on the shelf and they have a .50 Beowolf upper on the rack as well. I don't belive they have a .50BMG however they do sell the ammo for one.
I WANT a .50beowolf just to have... they looked pretty cool on the military channels weapons show.. (the one with the bald guy..)CNN - Your State Sponsored Media Network

.50 DTC and .510 DTC are the exact same, .510 is metric I believe.
.50DTC is almost exactly the same as .50BMG.
and a SHOULDER FIREABLE .50BMG is not legal.Last edited by TheRossRocket; 01-03-2011, 11:01 PM.I'd rather be judged by twelve, than carried by six...Comment

Bullet diameter for both .50BMG and .50 (aka .510) DTC are identical at .510"
.50DTC uses the same components as .50BMG but the case is trimmed to 1/10" shorter and the case wall blown out slightly to regain case capacity.
Subsequently, load data and ballistic performance are essentially identical.
If you have a registered 'assault rifle' AR lower, you may purchase a .50BMG upper to attach to it.
There are other cartridges based on the parent BMG case:
.50 Spotter (M48 spotter)
.460 Styer
.416 Barrett

Another wildcat is the 14.5mm JDJ... it's a BMG case opened UP to 14.5mm from 12.7mm.
