I had a 1965 Honda trail 90 with a rifle scabbard option a few years ago. I never registered it or put plates on it just road it around like a maniac doing stupid stuff (years ago)

I think they still tell stories of the guy who road wheelies down the street in boots and goggles then dissapeared like the mist.

Man those things were incredible offroad.

Don't know about here in CA but growing up in PA as a 16 yr old I would walk across town (suburbs no less) to go plinking with my .22 rifle in the patch of woods, rifle in case. Cops would wave to me as they drove by. This was in the late 60s not more than 10 miles from the Pittsburgh city limits. How times have changed. That same kid today would cause a full turn out of the SWAT team and be featured on the evening news.

Seemingly not all that long ago (ahem...): You know those high school English classes where they make you do show-n-tell about your hobbies? Well, this kid brought in an over-under shotgun to talk about trap or skeet (I forget which, it HAS been a long time). No one made a fuss. He did have to get a prior permission from the principal, though. This was a Bay Area high school to boot.

Another random anecdote also about the same time frame: Saw an small, old, farm-truck type 70's Ford pickup (Ranger?) driven by this nice older gentleman around Stanford/Palo Alto/Los Altos area. Had a gun rack on his back window with what looked like a lever-action Daisy BB gun or rimfire rifle hanging on it.

Nothing really wrong with the picture, and I have seen similar setups with AR's or other high-power hunting rifles frequently in the Midwest. It was just a little incongruent in that particular setting at that time. This Bud's for you, old gun rack-equiped pickup driving guy!

I brought in my 870 to do a show and tell at a catholic high school in San Francisco in 1976. I had just bought it at Sears on Mission street, my dad and I walked out of Sears with a shotgun and 3 boxes of #6. Nothing covered up.
