The new members won't get activated until March or so (Feb at earliest), from what I've been told. Expect a big spike in folks planning first trips around then.

Good point! There will be a large spike I bet!

I guess that means I should plan a trip around end of Feb or so. Hmmmmm

I was just about to ask this question, but that's good to know.

How far in advance in do you generally need to sign up for a class at FS? Can it only be like 1-2 weeks out, assuming they have spots available (they advertise the Diamond members get 1st priority at classes with no advanced notice)? Or will we still need to plan our classes & trips to LV about a month or two out?

Usually sign up two weeks in advanced and you will be fine. If you want to stay in Pahrump, lodging plans will need to be made in advance. You might get lucky to get a room on a short notice basis.

Diamond members have priority in all classes as long as they signup at least two weeks in advance.

                  From the FS website:
Guaranteed placement in any course with two weeks' advance enrollment... No worries about whether your can "get into a course." Your spot is guaranteed in any course we offer. Just fax or e-mail your Application for Training within two weeks of the course date and you are in! Like everything else we offer, no other school can offer you such flexibility with your scheduling!
No telling if they will use some cash from the recent promotion to have a few extra classes in the Summer time to accompany all these new members.
You think you know, but you have no idea.

Well, it looks like Im going to head out to SHOT show now so I will be definitely at least taking a trip out to check out the facilities.

Are there prereqs on the 1 day Armorers courses?

Prerequisites are listen in the course description of each class. You will likely need to complete the background check before attending.

For the 1 Day Armorers course, do you get any type of certificate for taking the class? If not, what more would you need to do in order to become a certified Glock armorer? Just wondering.

to be a certified glock armorer you have to attend a class given by glock the front sight class is taught by a armorer that teaches at lassen college

Yes, you probably get a Front Sight certificate. However, you can't order parts from Glock unless you are a Glock-certified Armorer. For that you have to take a Armorer's class from Glock. I believe they are holding two in Las Vegas during the SHOT show. Check the Glock training website.

Glock also offers a more advanced armorer class they teach at the factory.

I think it is taught by a skilled gunsmith and instructor in Lassen Community College's Gunsmithing Program.
