Can you guys give me info (laws) on shipping rifle and handgun ammo to CA?
I know there are a few cities and counties where it's not permitted.

      707,
      I'm sorry to hear that.
      Thanks for the reply.

I guess I won't be listing ammo here.

That's not strictly true. Right now most of CA can be shipped to, but restrictions on pistol ammo will take effect on Feb 1 due to AB962. There have been several threads in the 2A section on AB962, a few searches should bring up more info on that topic.

The actual date for AB962 implementation is Feb 1 - 1 month, near enough.

There is an existing lawsuit which will be heard and decided before then.

As to the different locality restrictions, there exists no list I know about; many out of state sellers over-restrict due to concerns about the legal climate in CA, a concern I cannot deny is reasonable on its face.

              Not true.

              NOT TRUE.

              NOT TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Currently, other than 2 or 3 cities with restrictions, only .50BMG is restricted.
Beginning February 1, HANDGUN ammo shipments are restricted to dealers and those with an 03FFL and COE.
I have both documents and can legally mail order any ammunition I would like other than .50BMG.

My problem will be finding dealers willing to do so....

IN NO SMALL PART BECAUSE OF COMMENTS LIKE YOURS THAT MAKE THEM BELIEVE THAT NO AMMO CAN BE SHIPPED INTO THIS STATE!

BTW: The restrictions of AB962 do not restrict private party sales, only dealer sales.

However, if you are talking about reloads, your 03FFL is not sufficient for the sale of reloads without also having an 06FFL

You are right, I should have clarified that it only affects handgun ammo sold to private parties from dealers, but from what I can tell Im not going to be able to order any ammo from out of state thanks to the bills non-clarification of "handgun ammo"

Plenty of vendors will still ship ammo, and will honor the 03/COE exemption.

                          You didn't.
I heard about the handgun ammo Ban on another board, but wasn't sure when it took effect.

Thanks again for all the info.
