    Reloading brass...

With government funds growing scarce, the San Diego sheriff's office is looking for a metal salvage company to recycle spent cartridge cases expended at their two ranges. The shells are 40 cal, 9mm, 45cal, .223 cal, 5.53 cal, and 7.62 cal.The department produces 3,000 to 5,000 pounds quarterly.
However, the Sheriff's Department requires that "Spent Brass cartridges are NOT to be sold for reloading purposes."

This is true. Unless you own your business or are a really boring right wing radio "personality" good luck getting a CCW permit...

Maybe Calguns should by the brass to be recycled of course, then resell it to the membership , and use the funds to further the cause . Sheriffs get what they want, and we get what we need.

Sorry to double post, but the more I think about this the more stupid they are being. If they really want to make some money back, they are going about it the wrong way. a 1000 rounds of .223 weighs about 13.25 pounds. Yellow scrap brass price is about .75 a pound give or take a dime, so about $10 for 1000 rounds of .223 brass, scrap. Verses, 1000 rounds of .223 once fired brass as relaoding components, cost between $37 and $50 bucks depending on where you buy it. Not smart business. Maybe I should become a recycler.
