I am looking at Liberty Safes in particular the Fatboy...I would like to get some feed back on this safe or if you have any other recommendations. I would really like to get a Liberty National Security but it is way out of the price range...My savings would be $3k by buying the Fatboy over the National Security...They both have the same warranty... National has better fire protection...

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!Comment

you should check out the Winchester supreme 53 and the silverado 45 they both have great fire rating and all the trimmings. The 45 has 1 1/2" bolts on four sides and a 1.5hour fire rating and the supreme has 2" bolts on four sides and a 2 hour fire rating. Both of these safes are under what you would spend on the liberty or the superior. The warranty is great as well, fire damage = replacement and burglar damage = replacement. Both have electronic locks and a five spoke handle. I have both a Liberty and a Winchester and I wish I had bought the Winchester first, could have saved some dough.Comment

I have the Liberty FatBoy Jr. and I really like it. I was looking for a safe that was wider to have easier access to my guns without having to pull out 10 guns just to get to one. The National does have a longer fire rating but you are paying for it. In reality you are paying for sheetrock. That's right, plain ol' gypsum board. Drywall is fire rated, all drywall is. With the National you are just paying for more drywall. National is a better made safe with better components and better choices in colors but they did not have the fat boy feature I was looking for.
If you're really concerned with fire protection, I would place the safe where there aren't tons of combustibles stocked up near it or near major electrical lines. In case a fire does start there is a less likely chance that your safe will fail because there isn't stuff burning alongside the safe.NRA LIFE MEMBERComment
