    Sad...

To quote the film The Usual Suspects

There was a gang of Hungarians that wanted their own mob. They realized that to be in power, you didn't need guns or money or even numbers. You just needed the will to do what the other guy wouldn't.
    now look at this

Jackson got arrested to make his point, he had the will to do what none of us are doing. And his name and cause got in the paper. Our rights are being stripped from us as we speak and no one is doing anything about it - but polls on this site say that ~75% of members would die for the Right to Bear Arms.

Maybe someone should try to organize a protest or a demonstration for the public and the media? Just a thought...

He's whoring for himself, not any cause. Big difference.

+1 he makes more money when he gets arrested. If I were to get arrested, as most of us, it would impact my life greatly.

Do you know what the military definition of assume is?

Maybe you meant to say that you weren't doing something about it.

Its easy to stand and get arrested when you know that NOTHING will really be done to you. I bet there are many many DA's that would love to prosecute the good reverend but would never have the balls to carry it all the way through the system.

An arrest like this means nothing and has very little if any real impact on the good reverend's reputation and standing, unless its to make him look better in the eyes of the people he is working. And yes I mean "workin", not working for. He is like apolitician so my question is - "Is your politician working for you or just working you over?".... same logic here.

Call me a jaded ex-dem... call me anything you want but I sincerely believe in my heart that if there was nothing to be gained and zero press coverage, the good reverend would not be there or even care.

They should arrest him for extortion for past actions and threatened actions. He is a whore for the almighty dollar.

The media eats up and glorifies some news stories, like these.... However, I think that they would juts eat up our stand on our rights and just spit it out or spin it like so much trash. Unless you can get prearranged favorable coverage, it would be a waste of time. Just my opinion.

Well, isn't "just a thought" the same as YOU speak and YOU aren't doing anything about it ?

Jackson could have made his point and NOT gotten arrested, and then been more useful the next day by hitting legislature to really do something about his cause. Instead, he did a little bit of grand gesticulating while feigning empathy, all for a powerless performance art piece. Is a crazy man loudly talking gibberish on a corner to himself a commanding speaker? Does he have an audience that is compelled or motivated by his words? No, if anything, he comes off as white-noise and those around him are trying to avoid him. He takes the crowd that surrounds him and without moving a single body, builds an abyss out of them. He alienates his audience to the point he becomes part of the atmosphere, like a bad smell you learn to ignore. No - Jackson shouts a lot but nobody hears a word he is saying - he is too irrational to be a focal point for concern.

Jackson did not express great will, nor did he care about such will; he simply mugged for the camera's attention. He found a way to make a cheap rap video. The arrest of Jesse Jackson makes a blurb all over the internet, not for the cause, but it becomes a "look at that silly guy and what he's doing again". His name in the paper today is no different than Paris Hilton's name being in the paper today. And it's one in a long line of performance art showcases. He accomplished nothing except "look where Jesse Jackson danced today, hehe, look at the funny man. I swear, that's got to be Eddie Murphy doing a parody of ol' Jesse! Hey, is the real Jesse Jackson still alive? That Eddie, he sure does Jesse pretty good!"

I don't see in it as anything different than Paris Hilton being arrested for some boisterous act she did or did not intend to do, whether right or wrong in that she was arrested at all, as some might argue.

As far as that reference to "no one" or "us"? Calguns.net is the wrong place to lay such accusation.

I will say this - plenty of people on this site ARE the 75% of people that said they would die for the Right to Bear Arms - to prove it, they served in our US military. It's a good thing many did NOT die, but by simply joining the military, the risk was potentially there, nevertheless.

Then you have a WHOLE other faction of people here who hammer their presence into legislation on state and federal levels EVERY day. You reap the rewards of THEIR work. They do more in a week to fight for our rights, with REAL impact, than Jesse Jackson accomplishes in a year, even if you total up ALL of his one-day performance art showcases, even if he DOES get the chance to do more than one a year. Instead of the Jesse twist and shout, the 75% "doing anything about it", approach their task with tact and composure, having the will to do things the RIGHT WAY with INTELLIGENCE which was needed to do what the other guy couldn't, (like Jesse Jackson) who does things the WRONG WAY and with a good measure of stupidity.

Jesse Jackson has no will to dedicate the REAL time it takes for true perseverance to follow through for REAL accomplishment on a cause. More importantly, he doesn't have any self control.

            .

i can't speak for all members, but i think most here would rather not be compared with JJ.

it's ironic that you bring this subject up, then end with "Maybe someone should try to organize a protest or a demonstration for the public and the media? Just a thought..."
