Specific PPT Question.

Believe me, I searched but my questions are always specific. Only found info on PPT's within the state.

Say there's a HANDGUN for sale on gunbroker/gunsamerica from an individual seller not an FFL dealer and that seller is outside of California.

Assuming that gun is on the roster, can I buy it and have the seller(located in FL) ship it to an FFL dealer in California?

Or

California FFL dealers can only accept HANDGUNS from out of state FFLs and not individuals?

I specifically mention HANDGUNS because I know the deal when it comes to rifles and FFL to FFL transfers.

This works.

No law requires FFL to FFL transfer - but the receiving CA FFL may do business that way.

And, California's PPT law is implemented to work only with 2 CA residents - your transaction would be an interstate transfer, and not subject to the CA PPT fee limit - so check with your CA FFL first. That's why you cant find info on interstate PPT - it doesn't exist.

The reason I ask this is because of the whole CFL thing, out of state FFL's need to register with CFL before they can ship a firearm into California. How would this work with an out of state individual who is not an FFL dealer and only looking to sell one of his firearms to a CA resident? Does he still need to go throught the whole CFL process or just ship the gun to my CA FFL and be done with it?

No...CA shipping approvals only need to be obtained by licensed FFLs
