    Ruger SR9 trigger.

Ok, so after reading multiple positive articles about the Ruger SR9 i purchased the gun. You all know where this is going..... i took the gun to the range and to my surprise the trigger was horrible. It had overtravel and it was so freaking stiff made my shots go high right everytime (not the gun but shooter induced because of the crappy trigger). From there i switched to my Glock 22 and i didn't leave the 10 ring.

I purchased the Ghost Rocket 3.5 trigger hoping it will make the trigger smoother and it didn't.

Does anybody have any experience dealing with this issue?

Yeah, except for the Rocket trigger. Because of the really bad stock trigger, I sent my SR9 back to Ruger. It had a 12lb trigger pull, which they said was out-of-spec. It came back better, but still crappy compared to my other pistols. If it doesn't get better over time, that will be the reason I sell it.

I cut 1 and a half coils off my striker spring. Problem fixed.

I had the same crappy trigger, but the Ghost and a light polish of the internals gave me a very crisp break. There's still some minor creep, but it's bearable. I have BRD now so my pistols don't see outside the safe anymore.

Do you think getting a lighter spring kit from Ghost will help? I got the Viridian green laser on it too and i love the way the pistol feels on my hand but the trigger really turns me off. Im taking it appart again and see what else i can do before i am forced to sell it.

Replace trigger reset 3.5. Remove and polish internals. Remove magazine disconnect( big help) cut 1 or 2 coils off the striker spring. Only recommended for sport shooting. Your trigger will be lighter than 3.5 and break very crisp.

Thanks for the info. I did everything mentioned above but cutting the striker spring. I will try that next. Thanks.

The striker spring will make the most differance. Start with one coil and see how you like it. Just don't go past 2 coils. Use a dremel and a cut off wheel with the spring off the striker. A quick blip of the wheel should be all you need. Then blend the burr smooth. Reassemble and dry fire away.

Try the Ruger forum http://www.rugerforum.com/phpBB/ go to Semiauto pistols and on the top there will be a sticky on how to take apart polish and put back together the trigger of the SR9. A majority of people that have read and done this have said thier trigger has gotten much better. I didn't completely take mine apart but i cleaned it thoroughly and polished the exposed places I could and I am very satisfied with the trigger I have now. Good luck and I hope this will help because I think the SR9 is a really good gun. Redhemi

I was very disappointed with the SR9 trigger when I bought mine. I still am. I have grown accustomed to it now and while I do not like the heavy trigger pull I actually shoot quite well with it. I shot my buddies XD and the trigger is very light and I am so used to the SR9's heavy trigger I was shooting all over the place.
