    Interfamily Transfer

Does anyone know about the inter family transfer of a handgun that is not on the DOJ list of Calif. legal firearms
My Father lives in Wy. he has his FFL I live in Ca. I want the Kahr Arms PM 45 not on the Calif Roster
Is it Legal for my father to give me his firearm, also doing this does the straws law effect us since it is inter family
    Thank you

Intrafamilial transfers are exempt from the roster, but you still have to go through an in-state FFL to satisfy federal law. Find a FFL who knows how to go about it (PRK Arms is in your neck of the woods) and get it transferred through them.

Wrong Forum... But it will be ok for your father to send the Kahr to your local FFL dealer for transfer.

Sorry for the post in wrong forum
Do you know any thing about the Straws law him purchasing the firearm and owning for less then a month and the shipping it to Ca. to My FFL dealer, I've been told that that is illegal
But I have read different since it is in family, also exempt from straws
my father is by the books, I don't want him leery about doing this
Also I hope this is the correct way to reply to you, If not do you mind helping me as a Senior Member. I'm sure you know the correct way reply to you post to my thread

I could be wrong but I always thought of a Straw purchase as a purchase for giving a firearm to a person that is prohibited from owning a firearm.

Can you legally own a firearm?

If you're going through an in-state FFL (which you have to), there is no way that you could be accused of doing a straw purchase.

The only thing that would be problematic is if you're between age 18-20...even though you could get a pistol through an in-state intrafamilial transfer, the in-state FFL won't be able to transfer a handgun to somebody under 21.
