    Steel target solutions.

So the "black rifle crew" has gotten bored of nailing paper at 50/100 yards, and has moved onto the satisfying experince of nailing steel targets in various positions.

But then sometimes targets get shot off, so every ceasefire work must be done to lift those hefty targets up and use the measly wires (must bring pliers next time!) Even then, the wires sometimes are not sufficent enough to hold some of the heftier targets up, though we did have success with one fellow who managed to manhandle a very thick cord of metal to hold two metal plates together so that they would still ping but not move around too much.

So how do you utilize steel to the best of your ability? Our range has a public steel target hanger which is riddled with plenty of holes to use to hang targets, but I think to ensure the most secure target would be to have a hanger wrap over the post rather than into the post?

Saw a couple of fellows who made a home made target which seemed to work well but they moved to a different station before I got a good look at it. So say one were to look for steel plates and hangers online/commercially or to makeshift a set, what would you need to do/look for? Targets would have to stand up to rifle caliber stuff at 100 yards, but by all means not take a 50 BMG or anything larger than your standard 8mm mauser or 30.06.
