    Range bag recommendations

So what kind of range bags do you guys/gals use ? Its a big PITA when i go to the range I carry like 4-6 rifle bags and like 5 handgun cases , and I leave my magazines in 1 ammo can, then bring like 2-3 more ammo cans with ammo. I have to make a few trips to the car to unload everything and its hard to keep track of all the things i bring . I am considering buying like 1 big duffle bag / gym type bag and use that specifically for ammo / magazines / cleaning suplies / eye and ear protection and also take advantage of the fact that I can put all my handguns in zip rugs and keep that duffle bag locked when transporting it. Also I can use those big jumbo size 2 1/2 gallon zip lock bags and bring a couple hundred rounds of ammo in each bag ( separated by caliber ) instead of those big cumberson ammo cans.

So because I really want to avoid taking my childhood red ryder to the range with all my equipment on top of it I am asking you guys, what do you recommend Ideally from now on when I go to the range all in would need is that packd duffle bag and rifle bags. Hopefully under $60 if possible with alot of compartments for magazines and such.

    Thanks!

Maybe take a look at the Midway USA range bags. They run 39.99. Maybe look into buying two of these.
I have a smaller Tac Force bag that I like alot (it was $60)...but I only have one handgun at the moment. The problem with the large duffles is that there are often no compartments and no spport in the sidewalls. So when you pick it up, everything slides to the middle.

You mean taking so many rifles / handguns ? I really dont take much equipment per say, what really kills me is not having everything organized in 1 place , and I think a duffle type bag will really fit the bill.

SOmething like this would be good. Its really pricey but Maxpeditions products are of insanely good quality and will last you a long time.

That looks great, but a bit over my price range

I see guys like this at the range all the time. I come in and have no place to put my one small handgun bag because one shooter has spread out over three lanes worth of bench. They see me trying to find a place to set my bag directly behind my lane, then just look the other way. Yes, please find a way to condense your items. Other shooters will be thankful.

People would become better shooters if they just brought 1 or 2 guns to the range and got good with these before moving on to others. Duffle bag of any kind will work just fine for handguns.

I have the large range bag from Midway and because its big with lots of pockets and compartments. When you load it up, you to will walk like a hunched back monster freak to the line. And talk about loosing stuff in all those compartments. Now were did I put that sight anjustment tool?

I love my iShot Mod bag, but they don't seem to make it anymore.

For the best deal out there, I recommend the Midway-branded range bag. Other than the fact that the main compartment doesn't lock easily (I have to use one of those free gun locks that PDs give away to go through the two zippers and one of the shoulder-strap rings), there is almost nothing to complain about with this bag.

                      Currently on sale for $40.

Yes, the Midway bag is the way to go for sure. I just bought one in green to go with the rest of my green gear, I have been running the black one for several years with no complaints.

Two things though, I would cut a piece of hardboard for the floor of it, not that it won't work fine without it but it really makes for a bulletproof setup, and I would pick up 4-5 smaller gun rugs from Tommy's Gunpacks this weekend while they are on sale for 40% off.

Sale is on the entire site, just punch in "gimme some" into the coupon box. Their rugs run about $12-$18 or so before discount and I found that the Midway ones were a bit on the large side and I like the way the zippers are on the Tommy's ones better. Oh, if you spend more than $40.00 ($75.00 before discount) you get free shipping, otherwise it is $10.00 to ship, so if you have $30.00 in your basket you might as well dump another $45.00 in and get the free shipping too and after discount it will only run you $40.00.

Yep! Cutting a piece of thin fiber board is a great idea. I did it to mine and it really stiffened it up by keeping the bottom from saging. Measure the inside then add 1/4 inch both ways.

For sure. Not to discount the OP but if you are bringing a half dozen rifles you are just checking to see if they go bang. I can easily spend 3 hours with the same gun and really work on getting it to shoot well. It might take me many trips to the range to get the load and sights just where they need to be.

                            Thanx, Russ
