10 day wait for ppt?

Obviously a newbie with guns...but does the 10 day wait/backround check apply to a private party transfer? Are there other requirements necessary to complete a transfer through the FFL? (other than paying the fees, of course).

Which brings up another dumb question....what are the usual transfer fees, and does any state sale tax apply to the transaction?

Yes a 10 Day Wait

Seller brings the weapon in person; and some ID, Drivers license will work.

Buyer brings two forms of Government ID..Drivers License and a Car Registration (is what I use) for example. Buyer looks at weapon; hands seller the cash; does the paperwork; must have a HSC card and pay a fee for the DROS ($35). No sales tax due. Wait 10 days go pick up the weapon. Bring a gun lock (unless one is already in the box) and be prepared to demonstrate how to load and clear the weapon.

Some FFl dealers will not let you use your own lock. They state that DOJ says the lock must be current and purchased in the last 30 days, go figure.

Make sure it's a 10 day wait not 11 days like some FFLs have. I had a FFL refuse to give me my revolver after 10 days because they have a 11 day wait period.

I know Turners near me makes one do this. Just go to wally world and buy a 4 dollar lock and return it later that day. Or what I did was leave it in my car and forget about it.
