best cleaners?

I was wondering what the best product(s) to use to clean the wood portions of my guns would be? Is regular ol' household wood cleaner ok, or are there specific products you guys use?

And also a couple of my guns have some minor rust spots on them. What is the best (and safest) product for taking rust off without causing any real damage to my guns?
