    Glock G36, any thoughts?

Checked one out yesterday, and I liked it.

They're awesome, but I bought a G30 instead for the 10 round capacity.

That was my only concern, but the upper is narrower than the G30, and supposedly Glock makes an extended mag for it now, too.

Eh, I'll eventually buy a G36 as well, so I'm not too concerned.

lol, yeah, I really liked the way it felt in my hand. And I have big hands. So, for a compact, it looks like I might have my first Glock!

I have one and love it. It fits my medium/smallish hands perfectly and is my primary ccw gun. Never had a failure with it and it conceals very well.

Thanks for the good news. Glocks in general are known to be reliable. Add in the thinness of the frame and upper, and it works great for what I want it for.

I tried one out, I was excited at the notion of a slim frame Glock. They still managed to make the grip rectangular. What would it take to get the Austrian's to round off those grips a little bit? Sheesh!

Tried both. I carried the G36 off and on for a year then sold it but kept the G30. IMHO the G30 is one of the better sub compacts chambered in .45 ACP.

My reasons for going with the G30 over the G36? Recoil was sharper on the G36 which affected my accuracy, the grip did not fit my hand as well as the G30. IMHO the size difference between the G36 (6+1) and G30 (10+1) was not significant enough to give up the extra rounds of the G30. Also, the G36 uses a special magazine whereas the G30 can use the G30 mags or G21 mags. Another important factor was I already had a couple of custom leather holsters and mag carries for the G30 and quite a few full capacity G21 mags.

BTW, you can put a G36 slide on a G30 frame to make a hybrid G30/36. It works but then the handgun does not fit any specific holster well. Ask me how I know

                        lol on the slide.

I noticed a large lack of holsters for it, and am still looking for the mysterious "extended factory mag".

I liked the G 30 almost as much as the G 36, and I see possibly getting one in the near future. I'll start with the G 36 as my first Glock. My 1911 friends are going to dis-own me...

They may have fixed it by now, but at some point I recall a lot of people had reliability problems with them. You might pop into a Glock forum and take a reading just in case.

Personally I'd rather have the 30 - 10 rounds, and it's not *that* much bigger.

I believe the "reliability issues" were actually just from people limp-wristing. The thing about the 30 is it can take the 21's full size mags. I've got the 30 love it, I've also got the 21 so the 36...maybe someday, probably not.

I have a 36 and a 21sf. The 36 is much snappier, and after a box of +P's, the webbing between my thumb and forefinger is pretty sore.

Still love it. When I lived in Texas and had a CCW, that was the gun. If I still had a CCW... well, I can dream, can't I?
