Police at Richmond Rod & Gun today?

I was going to the San Rafael area earlier today, and was heading west on the Richmond parkway. I was coming up on the Richmond Rod & Gun club, and saw from the distance 3 police cruisers heading into the club.

At first I thought they were going there to practice, but then saw a motorcycle officer with his lights on & parked farther up the road - he seemed to be watching the western side of the complex from the richmond parkway.

As we went through the intersection with the road that goes up to the club, the last cruiser was going in reverse up the middle of the road at a fairly rapid pace back towards the parkway, and then another quarter mile or so west of the club we saw a cruiser blowing past some red lights with his lights & siren on.

This was all about 11:50 or so today.

Anybody have any idea what was happening there?

I was there today.

Rumor was that someone was hunting duck with a rifle.

Who knows what the truth really was. Range was shut down for an hour then started back up again.

I just talked to the 200yd RO on the phone here's what happened yesterday:

I was running the 200 yd range and they told me to shut it down. Somebody called the club and told us that somebody with a rifle was shooting at ducks on the property next door ( so what !!!)

We told them we don't care. Call the cops !! So we ended up with a freakin SWAT team and two cops sitting on top of the 200 yd berm with binoculars for 1 hr. NOTHING !! I'm guessing they didn't find anybody as they were on top the berm just looking around.

Ah yes, it is duck season. Thank god it wasn't wabbit season.

BTW, why are the Richmond PD involved? Wouldn't this be more of DFG's problem???

because the land that is in question is within 100yds of Richmond Parkway.

Was wondering what the outcome was.

I was shooting on the action range when the RO came out yelling. We left about 30 minutes later, since the action range shut down at 1:30 anyways.

Good to see it wasnt a rouge shooter.

Funny how quick the police showed up regarding a shooting @ a gun club vs a shooting in Richmond....

They figured we would have taken care of the threat by the time they showed up : )
