    6.8 availability and cost.

Can someone please comment on 6.8 ammo availability and cost. I did not see any for sale at ammoman.com. Reason I am asking is that I am considering getting an off-list 6.8 stripped lower and I am wondering how expensive is it to shoot. I will probably get one regardless, but would appreciate the comments. Thanks.

6.8 runs for about $17 for 20 rounds from Load-X and Remington will have some coming out soon (if its not out already) and that should bring the price way down. If the military switches to 6.8 like many feel they will, many other companies will start making it and level 1 reject surplus ammo will soon follow like the XM193.

Right now the best option is to reload. You cost should go down to about $5 per 20 rounds (minus brass). Even a cheap Lee Kit with dies will cost you $100. If you load 150 rounds you will have made the money back for the press.

I'm going to build a 6.8 upper for my lower. Check out www.model1sales.com . they have everything you will need for a 6.8 build. DPMS has a couple prebuilt uppers.
