Anyone know of a good (hopefully freeware) excel spreadsheat template for firearm inventory purposes?

make, model, serial #, purchase date, purchase price, location, notes

Thanks for this! I recently lost my excell spreadsheet with a hard drive going bad. (It was a work in progress so I didn't bother backing it up) But now I realize how much input I had done.

The sportsmans blog template is a great start. To that I've added a couple columns. (Item/Description, Storage Location, Type / Action, Caliber or Gauge, Manufacturer, Model, Serial number/ID number, Build Date, Barrel Length, Finish, Sights, Accessories, Special Markings, Condition, Notes, Photos, Estimated current value, Date purchased, Where purchased, Purchase price, Comments, Overall Length, Misc.)

I've been collecting for over 30 years, so it's going to take a while to inventory and catalog them, but this should be a pretty thorough list once it's done. The only real danger - if my wife finds this I'm a dead man... ;-)

I keep my inventory on a couple of thumb drives, Excel seems to be plenty adequate. One in my safe and one in my locked desk drawer at work. Less chance of drive failure and full redundancy. I include full specs and descriptors down to grips I happen to have on it, and photos of all sides and any distinctive markings.

Old fashion pencil and paper ledger. Couple of bucks at the stationery store.
Has to burn or flood to loose it and marked Diary on the outside makes it legal off limits.
