    Firearm insurance ??

AAA seems to want an itemized list of guns, parts, SN#s, etc. Not really comfortable with that... I dont want a list anywhere...Or the STD 1-2k policy coverage. Even the NRA 1k additional wouldn't cut it.

    So... Any suggestions?

How are they supposed to insure a collection that they don't know the contents of or value of?

I did the Armscare Plus insurance through the NRA. It runs about $20 per $1k of insured gun value. It was cheaper than buying extra insurance through my renters policy.

How much are they going to charge?
When I looked into it it was way too expensive. You're much better off investing in a good safe and a good home security system.

the default NRA policy is now $2500, not $1000. If you need more than that, you can increase the coverage of the NRA policy and you only need to list those firearms that are valued over $2500. You don't need to individually list any that are valued <$2500.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Exactly. I would be paying like $500. That's ridiculous. A good safe is around 1k. A good security system is around 1k. I feel very protected.

Safes and alarms are just deterrents.

Proof would be invoices and dros records... You could state value and insure based on stated claim and payout based on proof of purchase.

Ke6guj, so you could have multiple firearms under $2500/ea and still be covered, but still pay the $20/1k of value.

              Thx

$500 a month, thats $6k a year. Thats one hell of a gun collection. I did a sample quote with the NRA insurance program and a $20k collection only ran around $350 per year.

yup. you buy the amount of insurance you want to cover the entire collection, with no listing of any firearms needed, except for those that are individually over the $2500 value. And even then, you only need to describe them, you don't need to list serial numbers.

Maybe, but there is no way a thief is going to try to break into a safe with an alarm going off. No way no how.

Plus, anyways my most valuable guns are irreplaceable. It would be a shame to loose them, but money would not replace them.

that's $500 per year. Still high. They quoted me about $1600, I was able to find a better deal from my current insurance company ($700 or so). 3hey initially wanted a list of all guns and their individual value, but we settled on me having those records and pictures in case I have to file a claim.

Who cares if the insurance people have a list of your guns? Are you concerned about one of them breaking in or are you concerned about the government knowing you have them? Either situation is statistically much slimmer than your house burning to the ground.

I am putting the government on notice. I have lots of guns. Μολὼν λαβέ. When it is time to bury them, it is time to dig them up.

State Farm just wanted to make sure I could produce invoices in event of a claim and wanted a stated value, no info, I wouldn't be real worried about my agent having the info, especially if it made a claim a lot easier.

The thing is that most homeowners and renters policies cap their firearms reimbursements very low. So if your house burns down and its a fire that exceeds the fire rating of your safe, then you're screwed unless you have the extra insurance. I figure it's cheap peace of mind. (Of course having a safe and alarm is a good idea too.)
