while in town to see my brother-in-law (in hospital following knee surgery), i went to the "new" salinas wal-mart. i went to the check out line to pay. all seemed well (i am planning to slowly buy plenty of ammo before 2/11) when i went to give my driver's license to the clerk. she said in a sarcastic way "how old are you really?". i got caught off guard with this question then responded with my age. she proceeded to say "you know minors can't buy ammo!" i stated "excuse me lady but if you doubt my age you take it up with the dmv who said i am (my stated age)!". the clerk then asked "is this for a handgun?". i said "no! this is for a rifle. is there a problem because it is not 2011 yet!". she responded "what's happening in 2011?". i quickly responded "go to calguns.net and get an account!". i took my items and left. oh well that's wal-mart for you. any comments are welcome.

Seriously, next time you're in Walmart ask them why they sell .410 handgun ammo if .410 handguns are illegal in CA. If they are halfway smart they'll say "because you can use it in a rifle". Then ask why they regulate .22lr so bad and they don't regulate .410 handgun ammo? I haven't gotten an intelligent response yet...

I have seen plenty of. 410 ammo at my Wal-Mart, even self defense loads, but I didn't see anywhere that said it was handgun only. Like the Judge.Comment

I read your post again, sorry I misspoke, but what is regulated about 22LR? I guess they sell it because WalMart has no idea that. 410 handguns are illegal. The ammo isn't illegal right? Doesn't make sense to me why they do, but my wal-mart sells salt for melting snow in your driveway. Hasn't snowed in san diego in like 40 years.
