Importing a dewat firearm

I am going to Europe in a few weeks and have an opportunity to purchase a WWII firearm. The barrel is plugged, the trigger internals are all one big glob of welded metal, and it will never ever be able to fire. But on the outside it is perfect.

Over there I can buy it as practically scrap metal. What are the rules, if any, or importing it? Do I just toss it in my luggage like a beanie baby?

It's a firearm as far as the US gov is concerned.

You would need to cut the receiver. If you dig around on the ATF website they even have requirements for how they want specific models cut, i.e. into three pieces with at least one cut going through the receiver ring with 1/4" kerf. Fairly destructive. Then there's the issue of just plain parts. Some countries might not even let you take a stock out. There's a guy in prison right now in Dubai I think for trying to take a stock on the airplane.

If it was never a FA why not import it as a firearm?
