Anyone have an A.R.M.S. S.I.R. hanguard??

just made an impulse buy on a A.R.M.S. #50 M-CV Carbine Rail. Here is a link to A.R.M.S. product page about it http://www.armsmounts.com/default.as...&sub=rails&id=[hsh]50M-CV . My question is... Are these any good? A.R.M.S. states that they won a military contract with this guard and even offer a video of soldiers in the field using it but no one seems to have much more information. Any insight would be much appreciated.

    Thanks
    Nick

I've heard about this as well and it might be issued to troops (Special Forces) but in very small quantities. The primary rail system in use by the U.S. military is the Knights Armament system.

I love mine, have nothing but good things to say about it. Very sturdy for a composite lower half. Extremely modular. Unfortunately, I have to sell it.

Sure does look nice on your rifle! I can only hope my build turns out that well.

A.R.M.S. Rail systems look darn bulky. I've seen pictures of Navy EOD units with A.R.M.S. Rail systems.

Thanks. A.R.M.S. is a major pioneer in the business. One example is when Colt wanted to come up with a "flat optics-mountable" top for their upper receivers of their (then) M4A1, guess who was the designer? A.R.M.S. & their CEO Richard Swan, as far as I know, set the standard specs for & patented the 1913 rail (referred to then as the "Swan Sleeve" & "dovetail" - still, today, you can see the little 'swan' logo on all A.R.M.S. products). And that is just the tip of the iceberg. Barrett's AR's (the REC-7's and one or two more) have come with the S.I.R. Rail system as standard equipment since the beginning. They were around before all the Magpuls/LaRues/MI/etc...etc.... and were/are still major players in the weapons industry (commercial/military), even though they have started to become a bit overshadowed by the above companies & the market saturation. Check out all the stuff this guy has invented/patented:http://www.armsmounts.com/default.asp?mode=patent

seems like they take pride in their work. Who could ask for more than good quality, American made products. Thanks for all the info. I couldn't resist the price so I had t buy it but in the back of my head I was wondering if I made the right move.

I just found out that Troy tried to steal the idea for this hadguard. Troy used to work for Swan and when he left one of the first things he came out with was a version of the #50. Swan sued him and won. The judgment can be found here http://pacer.mad.uscourts.gov/dc/cgi...f/arms_93a.pdf I will have to think twice before buying Troy products from now on....
