school work. sh*t happens. no matter how many CCW's are offered or if we had a cop on every block some kind of atrocity involving middle-upper class college kids will happen and everyone will be in shock and awe, "oh my god, they were all so young, rich, and white".

i am so sick of hearing about middle-upper class blond chicks gettin kidnapped, raped, jerked off on, or simply go missing (in other counties none the less).

My answer to how can this be prevented in the future:

Culturally, attitudes about guns being bad must change. Guns are niether good, nor bad. They are just tools. People must be taught at an early age the moral and ethical responsibilty of firearms ownership and the consequences of thier misuse-learn to respect firearms, not be afraid of them and be familiar in safe firearms handling. Shootings like this would be prevented if more people owned firearms and were taught how to use them responsibly. As it stands now most kids get their "education" about firearms from movies and TV. Hmmm, and how responsible are firearms used in movies and TV???

My Answer:

The world is not fair get used ti it

The only thing we can do is raise our kids well and teach them how to read the signs of people in need. This will eliminate most of the problems.

Guns are neither the problem or the solution. While I am a strong believer in 2A and the right for personal defense, no law could have prevented VT. The only thing that I believe could have prevented VT is trying to bring back the cohesive community sense we used to have. Communities where people know people, everyone talks to each other - and therefore people don't get sidelined and are left to develop sever social issues.
In my community, we try to be friendly with neighbors, chat, say hi, create and improve relationships. Right next door to use, lives a couple that moved down from LA. After a year of living next door these folks still don't look anyone in the eye and are afraid to talk to anyone. For the first several months, they wouldn't answer when we would say hi. Nowadays they answer AND they wave - progress. It is saddening how communities of people have become so foreign internally. If we become more social, hopefully people would be left on the fringe and go loco.

I realize the world is not fair, the fact of the matter is that these things happen all the time. When it happens in a nice neighborhood, or an middle-upper class college student, or a pretty white blond girl it gets publicized. So why is the poll reading "What should be done after VT?" why isn't it reading "What should be done to prevent the average citizen despite income, looks, or neighborhood from being harmed?"

I dont see that TS. News is news they print wat bleeds and that has no bearing on color or social status. I live in the bay area and every nite there is another story on the news from someone in Oakland or Richmond getting shot. Just because it happens so often it does not mean its not news or less horrible. It just makes you numb. The news caters to us and our need for the unbelievable. The reason they make a big deal when it happens in a wealthy neighborhood is because its rare. Not because its any more horrible.
You seem to believe that there is some conspiracy to get you or your friends because they are darker or minorities. I say dont do anything wrong and you dont have to worry. I get pissed when people say " I was being profiled , if I was white they would have never found the weed", sorry quit doing illegal things and they can profile you all day long and it wont matter. You will not have any reason to be anything but inconvenienced.
